With UltraVPN on Windows, you can exclude a website or app from the VPN. This is known as Split Tunneling. This is useful in case you have a website or app that you don't want to use the VPN for, but still want the rest of your system protected by the VPN.
UltraVPN has two different Split Tunneling settings, Bypass VPN and Route via VPN. In this article we will be going through BypassVPN.
To bypass an app or a website from the VPN, you first need to disable Local Network Protection, as Local Network Protection can not be used in combination with Split Tunneling.
Disable Local Network Protection
To disable Local Network Protection, you need to go into the UltraVPN settings.
Click on the Gear icon in the upper-left to reach the app settings.
Next, locate Local Network Protection and make sure it is disabled.
Excluding an app or website from the VPN
After disabling Local Network Protection, you can proceed with activating Split Tunneling. On the Settings screen, scroll down to the bottom and click on Split Tunneling.
This will take you to a new screen where you can select either Bypass VPN or Route via VPN. Bypass VPN and Route via VPN are mutually exclusive and can not be used together.
Click on Bypass VPN to activate the feature.
A new option will appear under Bypass VPN, which says 0 apps and sites selected. Clicking here will let you select which apps or websites you want to bypass.
You will now be presented with a list of applications that are installed on your computer. If you want to bypass a single website, click on +Add next to Add website, then enter the URL of the website you want to bypass.
If you want to bypass an application, search for the application in the search bar and click on +Add next to the application.
In this example we have bypassed the website ultravpn.com, as well as the Edge and Chrome browser.
The apps or websites you have added to the list will bypass the VPN, meaning they will use your normal Internet connection, instead of being sent over the VPN.
